Eric Falquero
Alum
Editorial Director
Eric joined the staff as managing editor in August 2011. He was promoted to editor-in-chief in November 2014 and editorial director in April 2019. He oversees our newsroom, working to meet our audience’s information needs, to produce our flagship publication, and to build pathways for training and employment for our contributors. He also works strategically to collaborate with other outlets to increase coverage of homelessness beyond our pages and to support strong local journalism in our community.
Previously, Eric served on the board of the D.C. Society of Professional Journalists and taught interactive design and development at the University of Maryland’s Philip Merril College of Journalism. He is grateful to have learned from numerous journalism fellowships with the American Society of News Editors, the Metcalf Institute, the National Press Foundation, and the American Press Institute.
After interning with our organization in 2010, he briefly founded and published a street paper in Huntington, West Virginia, where he graduated from Marshall University with honors. He also worked for the university’s daily, The Parthenon.
