I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and am currently a sophomore at Northwestern University studying Journalism and Political Science. Though my love for writing comes naturally, I think my passion for human rights and social justice was largely fostered by my mother, who broke away from her socially conservative family and has taken great care to raise politically literate children. My specialty is the Middle East/North Africa region, and I ultimately hope to go into a career at the intersection of international journalism and international law. Aside from my academic and career interests, I love to read, hike, rock climb, and travel. I play club soccer, take boxing classes, and used to run competitively. I also love art; I draw and paint – usually while on vacation – and I design and sew clothes when I can find the time.
