The Street Sense Excellence in Journalism Awards were awarded from 2008 until 2017 and honor reporting that changes perceptions about homelessness. At Street Sense Media, we believe that housing is a basic human right, and homelessness is an economically foolish, entirely solvable social ill. We are proud to recognize fellow journalists who wield their quills (and keyboards and cameras) to bring wider attention to the issues we care about most.

The David Pike Award

David PikeStreet Sense conveys the David Pike Award in the memory of former volunteer and board member, David Pike. David was a journalist for four decades with publications such as U.S. News & World Report and The Washington Star. David’s energy, compassion, and dedication are missed. We hope his legacy lives on through these awards.

We thank our generous sponsor for their support.
