Violence against women

An eye reflects the image of a woman shrinking away from a fist.

I was riding the D4 bus a few weeks ago when a man who was probably homeless attacked two women. He sat next to me, but he didn’t seem threatening. Suddenly he got up and started calling women “bitches” and other words we can’t print here. Then he walked toward the back and tried to punch a fairly young white woman. She had time to duck, so she only got a glancing blow. Then he walked to the front and hit an older black woman who had a cane, with his fist! Thank God he didn’t have a knife or a gun.
The bus driver told him to get off the bus, which he did at the next stop. I think the driver should have called the police. Now nothing will happen to this man. He hit two women and got away with it.
A couple of days later I was walking outside the Walmart. When I stopped at the red light a man on a bicycle passed by and punched me in the back. I turned and glared at him, but he just kept riding. A little farther on he said, “Excuse me.” That was way too late.
I’ve noticed a lot more anger toward women lately. It’s so bad that two policemen have to patrol the X2 bus because of past violence and the potential for more.
