Whereas we are making
Our own allegory
You, our daughter and me
Our union seems a blessing
Not found by everyone.
I never thought the time would come
When my eyes would be a sun.
Along the way, this joy begun
Is fed by plans, discovery, work and failure
But never not worth this great endeavor.
Rocks fall and quakes bruise the skin
Yet never defeating what we began.
A safety that is unusually found
The laughter of Shawna where love abounds.
I hope that God will uphold this way
It is the end for which I pray.
What we have lasts a very long day
And when it ends
If we meet again,
Thankful we’ll be
Joyfulness remains.
