Thoughts of the Day

Life revolves around decision making. You have to really take the time out to think before you do something that will affect you for years to come. Life is what you make it, but can’t nobody help you unless you’re really ready to step up and make that decision to help yourself. I came across this collection of meditations in a recovery program and think many more people could learn from them.

“Show respect even to people who don’t deserve it; not as a reflection of their character, but as a reflection of yours.” – DaveWillis.org

If You Want

By Ralph Marston

“If you want to be interesting, be interested. If you want to be heard, listen. If you wish to truly learn, teach. If you would like to be wealthy, be generous. If you desire to be understood, take time to understand. If you want to have many friends, be friendly. If you want the world to change for the better, make a positive change in yourself. If you long for peace, be peaceful. What you give to life is what life becomes for you. The treasures you accumulate all come from the good things you do.

Every day is your opportunity to raise your life to a higher level by giving the best that you have. Whatever it is you desire, give it, be it, support it and you will enjoy it in great abundance.

No Complaints

By Willie Fagg

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. (Philippians: 2:14:15).

“Because we are imperfect human beings, we often lose sight of our blessings. Ironically, most of us have more blessings than we can count, but we may still find reasons to complain about the minor frustrations of everyday life. To do so, of course, is not only wrong, but it is also the pinnacle of short sightedness and a serious roadblock on the path to spiritual abundance. Are you tempted to complain about – the inevitable minor frustrations of everyday living? Don’t do it! Today and every day, make it a practice to count your blessings, not your hardships. It’s the truly decent way to live.”

Lord, I know that the choice is mine – I can either count my blessings or recount my disappointments. Today, help me focus my thoughts upon my blessings, my gifts, and my opportunities. AMEN.

Giving Thanks

By Hannah Whitall Smith

“Thanksgiving or complaining–these words express two contrasting attitudes for the souls of God’s children in regard to His dealings with them, and they are more powerful than we are inclined to believe. The soul that gives thanks can find comfort in everything; the soul that complains can find comfort in nothing.”

Being Honest Inside

Author Unknown

“Fortunately, all the answers we will ever need are available to us. Although answers seem to come from outside us, such as through other people, actually the answers are already inside us. We need only to recognize them when they emerge. Something inside us hears the truth. We try for a long time to pretend that we don’t notice or hears, but one day we decide to get honest about how things really are with us. At that point we acquire a new bit of freedom. When we begin to get honest about how we really feel, we begin to get somewhere. “God” can change how we feel but only if we come to him, just as we are. Am I honest with myself about how I really feel inside?”

Lord, allow me to really feel today, even though I risk being vulnerable.

Today I will examine my true feelings.
