The Twenties Song

If I could have a word with me when I was in my twenties.
I’m now 53.

The first thing I would say is
Don’t spend your twenties living for play.
Increase, increase your faith in the Lord
And always pray.

Be much more of a help to your mother
Without her having to say.

Remember your father.
Don’t get caught in that same maze.

Take time and give your
little sisters their days.

Be a better brother in many ways.

As you go forward,
work hard,
educate yourself,
and always say,
“if the Lord is willing,
I’ll have better days.”

But the most important thing you must do
is get on your knees
and thank the Lord
for every day.
