The sound of music

Back in the year 1970, James Brown became one of my idols. His music touched the lives of so many people, to include mine.

I played drums in a band in high school. In those years we called ourselves the “10,000 Beats of Soul.” We would play soul and R&B music in parks and public spaces and everyone including homeless people, would have a good time. People loved us.

And while I can’t even remember all the people from that time,  I remember how it felt to hold those drum sticks in my hands. And I remember how it felt to make people feel good with our music.
