Seventy-one small superheroes, princesses, and wild west rangers gathered last Thursday night for DC General’s annual Halloween party.
Throughout the night, volunteers painted faces, passed out candy, made paper-plate masks, and gave out snacks to the kids.
The Homeless Children’s Playtime Project, an organization that provides weekly visits to DC shelters, hosted the event. A costume drive was held earlier this month for the children.
Site Manager Danielle Rothman helped organize the event and checked the kids in.
“After Hurricane Sandy delayed the party and kept the children cooped up in the shelter for two days, it was especially heartwarming to see so many joyful kids dressed up in costume and
to see the smiles on their parents’ faces as they watched their children play,” said Rothman. “We are proud of the impressive number of volunteers who turned out to make this party happen for the families and kept things running smoothly and safely!”
