Take Care of Our Planet, or We Will All Be Homeless

Humanity, our planet needs our help by saying no to Hydraulic Fracturing; saying no to the Keystone Pipeline proposal; saying no to future chemical spills; and definitely saying absolutely no to drilling offshore along the Atlantic Coast. Our planet cannot repair or recover when we allow decades of catastrophic disasters to repeat themselves. How many more calamities must occur before we take a stand? We are our planet’s voice. If we do nothing and allow this continuation of assaults on our dear, beloved planet, then we won’t have a fighting chance for survival.

How much more are we to take from our life-giving planet, which gives all life? EVERYTHING? God forbid. Every human being should be ashamed that we consume more than any other species; we waste more than we consume; and our efforts to recycle, reuse, and reduce has had very little effect thus far. Our actions have only shown that we don’t care about nature, life, or our beautiful, magnificent planet — because our actions speak louder than words. We will not be able to survive without our planet, and going to Mars would ultimately result in the same situation we have created for this planet. We would do the same things to Mars.

Just recently, a pipeline ruptured in one of our beloved national parks. These decades of spills are completely inexcusable, unacceptable, and completely irresponsible by those who continue to allow business to implement improper safety measures in preventing these spills from occurring. In North Carolina, thousands upon thousands of tons of coal ash resulted from generating electricity; a decision is currently under debate about whether to add additional preventive measures to avoid future leaks from its current storage place.

Our planet cannot recover if we continue to make bad choices resulting in devastating consequences and do not implement proper safeguards for prevention. We must start today in making safer decisions about protecting our environment so that not only does our planet have a second chance, but all of life as well. WE can do better for our environment and our planet. So let’s start today. It’s not too late!
