As our summer trees prepare for winter we can remember them by their colorful foliage.

Taking the time to appreciate the wonderful colors of autumn gives us an opportunity to learn about ourselves and others. Through the process of contemplating nature, we acknowledge God’s magnificent and awesome power.  Whether you are a Washingtonian or you are visiting the nation’s capital, you should consider making time for  a walk through local neighborhoods that are bustling with wonderful natural beauties

Nature’s abilities to teach and feed are limitless. Among the eye openers are the District’s  diverse fruit-bearing trees, shrubs and vines which you see dispersed through different neighborhoods. I have spotted an amazing variety: pear, peach, apple, orange, plum, fig, cherry, chestnut, banana, grape, mulberry and blueberry. And this is merely a sample of what you’re likely to find as you stroll among the different communities. Washington not only boasts the longest list of museums but it could possibly win the gold medal for the most diverse variety of fruit trees.

Nature’s seasonal teachings are as dramatic and diverse as people’s personalities. But what we all have in common is our connection to this planet and all its inhabitants. These particles make life where we ultimately fade back into the very thing we become–life itself.
