School days

Ken Martin

The school that I am attending is the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). I am in my mid-fifties and decided to go back to school to learn something new. It’s been 3 weeks since I started, and I am enjoying the new “me.” I always wanted to go to college and now I am here.

I know there will be challenging moments while I am on the journey to higher education. I am looking forward to being challenged as education has always been a big part of my life. Starting late or not starting at all was never an option. I was accepted to college by text mail and it was the happiest day of my life so far.

Now that I am in school, I know it won’t be easy, especially with the new technology that’s out there. But I know I can do this and working towards my degree is in my hands. Learning and keeping a good and positive attitude will help me to succeed in all my endeavors.

I am looking forward to getting my degree in communication and photojournalism and getting the additional education is my key to opening that door.

Find what you are good at, because it’s never too late.
