Sandy Stalls Mini-Walk

Several community mini-walks were rescheduled last week due to Hurricane Sandy’s impromptu appearance in the District. The mini-walks were scheduled as part of the annual Fannie Mae Help the Homeless fundraiser event.

N Street Village put its walk efforts on hold last Oct. 31, stating that it put the “community’s safety as [its] number one priority.”

With a previous goal of reaching 4,000 walkers, N Street Village has had to downscale expectations. Organizers have decided to extend the deadline for raising support.

Several DC organizations and churches have either extended monetary deadlines or completely rescheduled the walks for the coming weeks. Under half a dozen walks remain in the D.C., Virginia, and Maryland region.
