My Queen

My Queen, Ernestine, why did you keep me?
I could have been an abortion.
Instead, you birthed me,
raised me and nurtured me.
For that, My Queen, I am forever grateful.
So, I am speaking to you with this pen,
hoping I can repay you.
I have made mistakes that you might not approve of.
But with that tough love tactic you showed me agape love.
Thank you for putting me on the right path,
and being a major blessing in my life.
You once said to me, that I changed your life,
and you are still faithful to me, no matter what I do.
Even when I was in jail,
you were the only one to come through.
People, please give your loved ones these flowers,
these words of praise, while you can.
Smell them and dedicate them to your loved ones,
especially your mother.

Dedicated to my mothers, my birthmom Queen Bee Ernestine Brock and my godmoms Towana Wilson and Hazel Shirley. Also for my angels, Mary Young and Susue McCane, may you continue to rest in paradise. I hope I’m making you proud.
