My Home

Washington, D.C. has always been
the nation’s capital.

Home of the Nationals,
home of D.C. United,
and home of the homeless.

We don’t wanna be.
But tents is what yall see when you
walk down some streets.
I’m not trying to take aim,
or point blame.

My people just tired of playing homeless games.
Because when you are homeless, it’s not a game.
Living day-to-day, with no place to stay,
you feel irate when they throw it in your face.
Please don’t break, just have grace.
Try to have faith and everything will be OK.

Y’all great —
Just wait…
And pray…
