If You See Something, Say Something:
The McDonald’s Threat

On June 19, which was my birthday, I was riding the Blue Line train towards Metro Center.

At the Potomac Ave Station, a young man boarded the train, eating a sandwich from McDonald’s. Two stops later at Capitol South, six Metro Transit Police Officers stormed the train, grabbed the young man from his seat, threw him to the floor, and handcuffed him.

It was a lot of drama. They unloaded the entire train for a young man eating an Egg McMuffin from McDonald’s.

I guess the officers really thought they were keeping Metro riders safe from a sandwich. Where were the Metro officers when someone was getting assaulted, or getting their phone taken? Metro needs to place officers in certain locations around stations to make us feel safe. It doesn’t take six officers to take down a young man eating a McDonald’s sandwich.
