May Day and the Day of May

May Day and the Day of May

When the homeless don’t have to worry

about the cold at night,

and the days get longer

as we wait on the first Day of May

for the summer to begin,

and our only worry is to beat the heat.

Oh but those Days of May

when life is all abloom

and the nights under the stars

are like cool breezes in your living room

with trees shading the moonlight-

Being homeless doesn’t feel so bad in those Days of May.

If only every day could be a May Day.
