Labor Day

Labor Day is the first Monday in September and it’s a celebration of the labor movement. It is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. This continues every year. Labor Day is a public holiday or day of festivities held in honor of working people in the United States and in Canada. Labor Day is often celebrated with parades and speeches as well as political rallies. Labor Day can also be celebrated with parties, barbecues, sporting events or just with short vacations.

Labor Day was first celebrated on Sept. 5, 1882, in New York City. A year later, the Central Labor Union held a second Labor Day event.

Labor Day started as a Canadian holiday and then was introduced to the United States by Peter J. McGuire, an American labor leader. This is the history of Labor Day and how it can be celebrated. Thank you and God bless.
