Just Like You

When you see a homeless person on the street,
Do you offer them something to eat?
When you see someone sleeping on a bench of wood,
Are you the one that says
“what are they doing in my neighborhood?”
There are many homeless people
Fighting addiction.
There are many homeless people
Fighting a mental condition.
At one time, a homeless person could have been
Just like you.
Family, job, house,
Just like you.
Homeless people have hearts and souls,
Just like you.
So if you’re the type that wants the homeless around
You try sleeping on the cold ground
All the homeless really want is to be
Just like you.
