Homeless Child

What my customers mean to me:

Homeless child riding the bus

Separated from her cousin,

Connor and tidier than most

Of her domiciled peers.

Certainly better behaved.

She sits and absorbs ridicule from the others.

Her shoes are from Payless

Her nails aren’t done by a salon.

And those “children” felt a need to (hopefully unknowingly) remind her.

Meanwhile her fuming cousin, a crowd away,

has a frustrated look on her face.

She wants to end her little cousin’s pain.

So should we.
