Education
~Academy of Hope offers:
~~Literacy & Basic Skills Courses: Small classes focused on basic reading, writing, and math skills.
~~GED Prep: Classes in social studies, science, math and writing focus on developing critical thinking skills and content knowledge needed to pass the GED exam and earn a high school diploma.
~~National External Diploma Program: Learners demonstrate reading, writing, math, and workforce readiness skills in life and work contexts. Designed for self-directed adults with some familiarity with computers. Graduates earn a local high school diploma.
~~College Prep Classes: Build the skills and habits you need for success in college. Get help completing admission and financial aid applications. Earn college credit.
~~Computer Classes: For those who have already earned their high school diploma, Academy of Hope offers digital literacy courses leading to the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification (MOS) or the Internet Core Competency Certification (IC3).
~~Career Academies: For those interested in careers in hospitality, healthcare and office administration, Academy of Hope offers an opportunity to take courses and participate in workforce training at the same time.
~They also offer the following services to help you meet your goals:
~~Day or evening courses to fit your schedule
~~Career services, including career development courses, job search assistance, resume and cover letter writing workshops, and vocational evaluations
~~Student support services including one-on-one tutoring and case management to address academic and personal needs
~~College counseling services
~Academy of Hope offers four terms per year. The online application is open for approximately six weeks before every term.

~Academy of Hope’s programs and services are free to DC residents over the age of 18. Applicants must be prepared to provide proof of DC residency. Academy of Hope accepts the following documents as proof of residency.
~~One of the following:
~~Official documentation of financial assistance from DC government (TANF, Medicaid, SNAP, housing assistance, etc.) dated within the last year
~~Pay stub showing DC tax withholding dated within 45 days of registration
~~SSI or SSDI Income Statement
~~D-40 Form Certified by the DC Office of Tax and Revenue
~~Verification letter and military orders or DEERs statement
~~Embassy letter indicating embassy sponsored housing in DC with embassy seal
~~OR two of the following:
~~Unexpired motor vehicle registration
~~Unexpired DC motor vehicle operator’s permit or official non-driver identification
~~Unexpired leaser with proof of payment within the last 2 months
~~Gas, water, or electricity bill only with proof of payment within the last 2 months
~Please come to your appointment even if you don’t have these documents.
~Documents must not be expired and must be presented in their original format. If you do not have any of the documents or you are experiencing homelessness please contact the registrar for assistance.
