You Are Appreciated

I have been thinking of writing something like this for a while, not just for the holidays. I stayed away from it because I feel that pieces like this are, in a way, similar to what I already do on the corners when I’m selling the paper.

I do realize that I am being invested in by all of you who purchase the paper from me personally. I am making great strides in the community. To date, I have starred in interviews, designed flyers and newspaper pages, spoken in front of crowds, directed a film and even published drawings — something I never thought that I would be able to do. I used to think drawing would be hard, but it seems I have a few skills yet to uncover.

I am relaying this to you all because I want you to know how much I appreciate every investment. Every voice of feedback and motivation. I am doing my best to make the greatest turnover of these kind words and investments. I am thankful to all of you and hope that you will continue to support me as I endeavor to continue my education and open my own business based here in Washington, D.C.

You have been the best parts of my life and I am humbled everyday by the many people that stop just to have a quick chat. If it was not for you, I would not have gotten this far. I may have come a long way, which includes a two-month stint as a District of Columbia city employee, but I have a long way to go too. I am asking for your support during the journey.

It has been a treasure to be your Street Sense vendor and I am hoping that as I start to roll out creative products for my business that you will become patrons of those items too. I will see you on the streets. And like I always say: safe journeys to you all.
