Thanksgiving, to me this is the best holiday of the year. It gives you time to meet with family and friends, but what I truly love about it most, is giving. There are so many people who won’t have a Thanksgiving because of homelessness.
When I was homeless, Thanksgiving was the most depressing time for me. All I wanted most was to be and talk to my children. What got me by were the people on 11th and E Street, at the Starbucks and Eastern Market. With their giving attitude and kind words, it made Thanksgiving good for me.
With so many people, who won’t be having Thanksgiving because of their situations, I’m asking all of my friends not to get too busy to give a few kind words. Not just to the homeless, but to anyone who’s feeling bad around the holidays. Saying “Happy Thanksgiving” to someone means a lot to someone who doesn’t have family or good friends.
