Kindness of Strangers

While I’m out on the corner working my Street Sense papers, I see different people every day. Some smile. Some don’t. Either way, you never know someone unless you talk with them. I may not converse with everyone who donates or buys a Street Sense paper, but when people do stop to talk to me, I get to know their names and they get to know my name.

Now we are not strangers. And, as I can testify from experience, a stranger can become your friend. You know what else? The donations for the papers are less important than the kind words my customers say and the time they take to tell me what a good job I am doing.
