Identity

Clark Kent didn’t tell anyone he was Superman. Bruce Wayne didn’t tell anyone he was Batman. They were protecting their identities. They were not hiding their identities; they were protecting them. We as a people must learn how to protect our identities. When people know everything about you, you lose something. Most times you lose who you are.

I feel no one should know everything about you. There should be some mystery. I don’t mean hiding or sneaking around. But, the only one who should know everything about you is you.

A very close friend of mine was married and had three children. When they were grown and moved on in their lives, his wife left him, and still to this day, he has never recovered. He put his all into his family, which he was supposed to do. But he lost something. He lost who he was. He lost his identity. He loved his family but forgot about himself.

In our daily lives, sometimes we forget who we are. Your identity is all you have and you must protect it. Some people I know love their families, love their pets, but they like themselves. You can’t do anything for others unless you do it for yourself. Self-love is the best love you can have. If you lose that, you lose your identity. It’s so easy to forget about yourself in this world. Just remember…know who you are. And always stay true to yourself, love yourself, and you won’t lose who you are. You won’t lose your identity.
