If You See Something, Say Something:
Lookout for each other

On Feb. 4, someone was stabbed on the Orange Line.

Just the day before, I saw a young lady with money coming out of her pocket on the Metro. There was a guy standing behind her waiting for that money to drop.

I wasn’t going to let that happen. I said, “Excuse me miss, but you have money in your pocket about to fall out.”

She secured the money and thanked me. The guy looked at me as if he wanted to kill me. It was scary.

The police will always tell you not to get involved if you see a crime being committed. That’s easier said than done.

This kind of activity goes unseen in the Metro while fares continue to rise. We have to bring change to our Metro system. It’s unsafe — but a lot of people like me depend on it.

That’s why we need more police presence on the Metro. Seeing them will make us a little bit safer, and we need that.
