Being on the Streets

A homeless individual sleeps in a D.C. Metro station.

I been on the streets for 30 years and it has been really hard for me. I’ve been sleeping in the subway for a lot of that time because it’s the warmest place in D.C. After the subway closes for the night the transit police pretty much leave me alone. But they hustle me out of there as soon as the station opens and I’m still tired.

I been surviving, although sometimes I feel like dying. But God won’t let me. I gotta think I must be one of his angels.
