Back to School Baggage

I have to buy a backpack this year as I do every year. While my daughter already has several brand new bags, from various sources. I have to buy her a specialty bag. Last year was a transparent plastic backpack. So any weapons would be visible to security officers at schools. This year the school officials ask for mesh backpacks!?! Is that to ensure that any weapons carried remain rust free?
