An Invitation to Honor America’s Black History

You are cordially invited to the biggest, baddest, last Black hurrah: the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the grandest farewell party ever afforded a president of the United States.

Everyone is going to be there, even if they arrive late, in the months and years to come. No one will be turned away.

We are proudly celebrating the first Black man to head and lead the United States of America.

He did not achieve the seat because of his skin color, but because the greatest majority of voting citizens aspired for a new kind of hope and change toward a more perfect union.

President Barack Obama espoused that dream passionately and believably in his orations throughout the campaign for the White House as a free man, unencumbered by chains.

The African-American public felt the pull and lure to try, one more time, for a part of the dream, so eloquently and strongly envisioned by Martin Luther King, Jr. and the thousands who stood, died, survived and vied for a fuller more equal freedom for all people regardless of race, color and creed – and absolutely a freedom not etched and branded with race and color.

What better way to say thank you to the president and the centuries of African-Americans who withstood the pains and struggles of time to be free. While we have some more work to do, we are forever appreciative for your accomplishment and honor you for being a president of the people.

Thank you for the gift of being one step closer to not being afraid to be black! We embrace our history and toast our accomplishments as part of the fabric which is our America.

Oh, yes, don’t forget to RSVP.
